If you're coming to East Suffolk on holiday, have been on holiday in Suffolk or are living away from your native county have a look at our new service Suffolk’n’Fresh which will deliver the Best of Suffolk in a box to your home or holiday cottage. This is in addition to our already popular luxury hampers which can be sent anywhere in the U.K.
NEWS FOR JANUARY
Based on our experience of the past three years January and February are very quiet periods so until the 8th of March we will be CLOSED ALL DAY MONDAY AND WEDNESDAY. January has started cold and snowy and sales of soup from Purely Pesto and mince and braising steak from Sotherton Beef are particularly strong. The Cake Shop tell us they are about to produce two new breads, a Sourdough made with Adnams Broadside and a Suffolk Cyder bread made with Aspall Cyder. We hope to have tasters in the shop when they are made.
UFFORD ALPACAS
Meet our new arrivals and see our range of Alpaca wraps!
Based in the picturesque village of Lower Ufford in the Deben Valley close to the Suffolk Heritage Coast The Ufford Produce and Provision Company is a Village Store and Post Office with a difference. With the owners aim of reducing Food Miles it offers the Customer the experience of visiting a Farmers Market every day of the week. Based in a converted barn in Loudham Lane in Lower Ufford the company was set up in December 2006 after the previous Post Office closed after 162 years.
As well as fresh produce from surrounding farms all meat products are sourced from suppliers who raise and butcher their animals within a 30 mile radius of the shop. Traceability is the key and the company's owner has visited all his suppliers and is happy to talk to customers about the source of both the meat and produce in the shop. The shop also offers chef-prepared ready meals from award winning local chefs and hand made fishcakes.
Being less than 5 minutes from the A12 the shop offers a useful stocking up point for weekend visitors to Suffolk or for people on their way to a holiday cottage.
